CURRICULUM
· HIFZ (QUR'AN MEMORIZATION)
FA offers a unique educational program stressing on Quranic Education. During the early hours of school, our students spend their time memorizing Quran. Memorization of Quran develops the human mind and soul. The benefits of memorization of the Quran are numerous. According to a hadeeth, Prophet (SAWS), said "Whoever reads the Quran, memorizes it, and acts upon it, on the Day of Judgment he will be clad (by angels) with a crown of light, its light is like the sunlight and his parents will be clad with two garments better than the whole world and whatever it contains." So they would amazingly ask: "What action did we do to deserve this?" They will be told: "Because your son memorized the Quran. [Al-Haakim].
· ARABIC LANGUAGE
At FA, classical Arabic is taught as a language, not as a subject. We have adapted multiple curriculums that stress on the dialogue, grammar, reading and writing to help our students understand the meaning of the Qur’an and to be able to converse in the language.
· ISLAMIC STUDIES
Our Islamic Studies curriculum stresses on the importance of following the guidelines of the Quran and the Seerah of the Prophet (SAW). The students are also taught to incorporate the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (SAW) in their daily lives. Imparting such knowledge to students will lay a strong foundation for prospective Ulama and also prepare the child to meet the challenges of the society with a strong Muslim identity insha'Allah.
· TAJWEED
FA Hifz Program emphasizes on teaching Tajweed, the correct pronunciation of the Quranic script. The meanings of the words from the Quran will be altered if not read with proper tajweed; therefore it is an essential part of our Hifz Program.
· COMPREHENSIVE SUBJECTS
FA follows McGraw Hill Curriculum for Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies. At FA, students are also taught these subjects from an Islamic perspective supported with relevant Ayahs from the Quran and Ahadeeth.
STANDARDIZED TESTS
Furqaan Academy utilizes the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills to monitor the student’s academic development. The test will be given twice in an academic year. These tests are not used as a tool for promoting or demoting a student, but are used to observe where the class or group stands in comparison with similar groups of students nationwide.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
FA has one activity period every day to refresh the student’s minds and to make their whole learning experience interactive.
· ART CLASS
During the Art sessions, students use their imagination to create beautiful art projects. Calligraphy is also taught to the students to revive its legacy and honor.
· GYM CLASS
The Gym Class allows the child to rejuvenate their energy for the rest of the day. The students are involved in activities such as basketball, soccer and football.
· COMPUTER CLASS
To keep our students abreast with the changing times, FA starts with teaching the students the basics of computer skills. Specific curriculum is designed to help students develop their research skills for projects and making use of different applications such as Microsoft Office etc.
· NASHEED CLASS
The Nasheed Class enables the students to proudly express their Muslim identity through poetry in both English and Arabic
· CLUB TIME
Towards the end of the day, students utilize their time by doing their assignments, projects, or have group discussions like Halaqah to teach them Khitabah (speech) skills.
FULL TIME HIFZ PROGRAM
Our full time Hifz program aims to generate Huffaz in a time frame of 2-4 years. A typical day for a student enrolled in this program starts at 7:45 am and ends at 4:00 pm. This time is utilized for memorization of the Qur’an and its recitation while focusing on Tajweed.
