Executive Director - Furqaan Academy Corporate

Position Type: Full-Time

The Executive Director will provide direction and leadership towards the achievement of the vision, mission and strategy of Al-Furqaan Foundation for its Furqaan Academy division - a franchise of Hifz & Islamic schools around the U.S. The Executive Director in responsible for the day to day operations of the Furqaan Academy division, by leading and supervising, hiring and evaluating school principals, school admin staff and faculty , managing the divisions funding, budgets, finances and resources. The Executive Director will be the main public spokesperson for the Furqaan Academy franchise, and therefore must have an impeccable religious background and a commanding presence. The candidate must be highly dynamic, religious, personable and very strongly familiar with the diverse cross section of the Muslim American community. The position calls for effective public speaking skills, including delivering Khutbas in masajid around the country, and excellent communication abilities. The position is a highly public, high profile position and the Executive Director should be comfortable working at a national level. The Executive Director will serve as the “face” of The Furqaan Academy franchise nationally, managing direct reports from regional schools and programs around the U.S and Canada. The position reports directly to the President of Al-Furqaan Foundation. The Executive Director also serves on the Executive Committee of the Al-Furqaan Foundation. The primarily place of business will be in Bolingbrook, IL. Travel to different academy locations as needed will be required.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership and management to assure the proper implementation of the vision and strategy of the Furqaan Academy
  2. Ensure that the Furqaan Academy division and its academies, are professionally run, self-sufficient, properly staffed around the country and are financially secure
  3. Represent the Furqaan Academy at events, conventions, Jummah kutba’s and other speaking engagements
  4. Direct the implementation and evaluation of the many programs and plans that range from fundraising to opening new schools, managing existing schools, to various after school & weekend school programs at each location
  5. Ensure the quality, standards and curriculum are developed, implemented and achieved in all education programs
  6. Manage budgeting, and all financial and human resources
  7. Develop and implement policies and procedures for all operations with standardization across all schools
  8. Recruit, lead, supervise and evaluate staff

Fundraising and Financial Management:

  1. Create and implement financial development campaigns and strategies and cultivate and develop new sources of funding to support the academies around the country
  2. Develop materials, staff and resources to increase the donor base and grow contributions from individuals, organizations, Masajid, businesses and foundations
  3. Oversee fundraising planning, implementation, and administration of fund disbursements to programs and services in all schools
  4. Develop yearly budget for board approval and manage diligently
  5. Develop and manage events in cities across the country to meet fundraising targets and goals
  6. Oversee and work with marketing department on proper marketing and promotions of all the programs and activities of the Academics
  7. Develop and manage a comprehensive communication plan to utilize various media including print, website, social media, radio , T.V. etc for promoting the Furqaan Academy franchise programs, activities and fundraising

Desired Qualification:

  1. A deep passion for education to develop a nationwide chain of schools in a balanced deen/duniya model to develop Muslim American Leaders and Scholars
  2. Practicing, knowledgeable Muslim with ability to give Khutbas and raise funds
  3. Minimum of 5 years senior management experience working in a leadership role at a non-profit organization
  4. In-depth knowledge of the non-profit community
  5. Well respected within the Muslim community in the United States
  6. Demonstrated leadership, management and fundraising ability, with strong knowledge of fiscal management including budgeting
  7. Experience in or around the education field a definite plus
  8. A strong teamwork orientation and an ability to select, manage and motivate staff
  9. A proven track record in receiving funding , fundraising and business development
  10. Demonstrated ability in public speaking, written and oral communication and intrapersonal relations
  11. Relevant graduate degree or equivalent experience required

Vice-Principal

Position Type: Full-Time

VP will work directly under the principal and help coordinate, direct and plan the academic or auxiliary activities of the school, will manage the teachers, counselors, staff and students on a daily basis. Master’s degree in educational leadership, education administration or a similar field with significant experience is required.

Responsibilities:

  1. Working closely with the principal on a daily basis to ensure the smooth overall operation of the school.
  2. Supporting committees of staff and parent that function to improve the learning and social environment of the school for the students.
  3. Teaching classes, developing rapport with the students, handling discipline issues and filling in for the principal when required.
  4. Resolving conflicts between students, teachers, parents or combinations of conflicts between various individuals.
  5. Assisting in yearly teacher evaluations, assisting in providing guidance to staff and students, and encouraging a positive climate in the school.
  6. Directing assemblies and other special gatherings of students for events throughout the year.
  7. Developing emergency response plans for schools as required by state and federal education agencies. Filing reports and updating as required.
  8. Record keeping as required through the use of various logs, tracking records, computer programs, inter or intranet software or other programs.

Development Manager

The Development Manager is responsible for leading the institution and franchise advancement program and reports to the Executive Director of Furqaan Academy. The Manager will also be responsible for developing and maintaining active and productive relationships with board members, donors and administration at various school locations.

Specific areas of responsibility across all franchise schools includes:

Fundraising:

  1. Designs, implements and manages all fundraising activities including annual giving, endowment and capital campaigns, special projects, and other school-related solicitations.
  2. Manages all strategies and activities for donor cultivation, solicitation, and relations.
  3. Maintains contact with and develops grant proposals for foundations and corporations.
  4. Develops and implements parent and class-based fundraising programs within the Annual Fund.
  5. Develops a comprehensive planned-giving program as the need becomes appropriate.
  6. Develops and implements social media / crowd sourcing programs to enhance fundraising.

Board Relations:

  1. Works with the Development Committee of the Board, Executive Director and the Principal to develop strategies to initiate and meet aggressive fundraising goals.
  2. Develops fundraising training for board and other leadership volunteers.
  3. Assumes responsibility for all Development reports to the Board and other agencies, and attends Board meetings/Executive meetings as needed.
  4. Assists the Board with recommending and researching potential new donors/supporters.

Development Office Infrastructure:

  1. Creates office systems to support all Development projects and operations.
  2. Supervises donor and gift record-keeping.
  3. Coordinates development research activities.
  4. Oversees the management of databases and all records, files, and gift processing.
  5. Manages the pledge reminder and acknowledgement programs.

Parent Relations:

  1. Works with Parent Committees to identify and train a core groups of volunteers to assist in the Annual Giving, special events and other fundraising programs as needed.

Public Relations, Marketing, and Advertising:

  1. Works closely with each schools administration and the Principals to develop public relations plan and an advertising plan.
  2. Designs and oversees production of all major publications, including the newsletter, the Annual Report, the School’s website, and working with designers and printers to promote the school’s fund and fundraising goals and activities.
  3. Creates and implements a communication and promotional plan for the Capital Campaign.
  4. Develops and implements strategies to promote school’s mission to both the internal constituencies of the School and the community at large.

Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of 2 years professional fundraising experience, preferably in Islamic environment.
  2. Proven experience in designing and managing development.
  3. Experience with developing and maintaining productive working relationships with board members, donors, parents, administrators and faculty.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Ability to work as a leader and as part of a team.
  6. Ability to work in a disciplined office environment out of Bolingbrook, IL

School Administrator

Position Type: Full-Time

Responsible for the operation and instructional leadership at school. Trains and supervises staff, sets instructional objectives, and works to build a rapport with parents.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage day-to-day activities.
  2. Review and approve new programs, or recommend modifications to existing programs, submitting program proposals for school board approval as necessary.
  3. Prepare, maintain, or oversee the preparation/maintenance of attendance, activity, planning, or personnel reports and records.
  4. Confer with parents and staff to discuss educational activities, policies, and student behavioral or learning problems.
  5. Prepare and submit budget requests and recommendations, or grant proposals to solicit program funding.
  6. Direct and coordinate school maintenance services and the use of school facilities.
  7. Administer record keeping.
  8. Handle tours and marketing.
  9. Prepare budgets and annual reports.
  10. Work actively with teachers to maintain high curriculum standards.
  11. Establish performance goals and objectives.
  12. Explain or answer procedural questions.

Daycare / Montessori Director

Position Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  1. Direct and design the program that is consistent with the school’s vision and the teaching styles and values of the Montessori approach.
  2. Provide leadership and supervise staff and students.
  3. Set educational standards, and help establish policies, procedures
  4. Maintain a positive communication with staff, parents and students.
  5. Provide administrative guidance and maintain student files.
  6. Evaluate the program and make sure that it meets the local and state requirements
  7. Work towards Accreditation of the school.
  8. Evaluate staff and provide input on the teaching strategies.

Qualifications:

Ustadh@Home Quran Teacher

Position Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching students to read Quran with proper Tajweed
  2. Helping students memorize Surahs
  3. Developing a positive relationship with the students within the Islamic guidelines
  4. Evaluate each student and create teaching strategies based on the individual’s pace
  5. Tracking progress of each child and maintaining records.
  6. Must be able to teach all ages (children, adults)
  7. Must be punctual to all sessions.

Qualifications:

  1. Must have knowledge of Makharij and tajweed and be able to teach the students.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to teach basic Islamic curriculum.
  3. Must be proficient in English language.
  4. Must be available to teach either weekdays from 4.00 p.m. – 9.30 p.m. or during weekends from 9.00 a.m. – 5.30 p.m.
  5. Must be able to drive and have a reliable car.
  6. Hafidh or Aalim preferred but not required.
