Furqaan Academy utilizes the IOWA Tests of Basic Skills to monitor the student’s academic development. The test will be given twice in an academic year. These tests are not used as a tool for promoting or demoting a student, but are used to observe where the class or group stands in comparison with similar groups of students nationwide.
The Iowa Assessments help determine how students are performing on nationwide standards. These assessments measure achievement in several important content areas including Vocabulary, Word Analysis, Reading, Listening, Language, Mathematics, Computation, Social Studies, Science and more. The exact tests that your child takes will depend on his or her grade level.
The Iowa Assessment test helps teachers identify your child’s strengths and areas that may need additional emphasis. The Iowa Assessments also measure student’s growth and progress in the content areas assessed from year to year. The assessments produce information that enables sound decision making and provides a focus for teachers to evaluate instruction. Each test includes sample questions to help students familiarize with the content and format of the test.
Samples help students understand what to do – how to mark answers and move from question to question.
