Ramadan Kareem!
As-Salamu-‘Alaykum,
Dear Furqaan Academy Parents, Staff and Volunteers,
Ramadan Kareem as the blessed month of Ramadan is just around the corner! As you may be aware that the name of our school: “Furqaan” is closely related to the spirit of Ramadan mentioned in the following verse:
“Ramadan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur’an, as a guide to mankind, also as Al Furqaan: clear (signs) for guidance and judgment (between right and wrong).” [2:185]
And the month of Ramadan is one of those opportune times when we strengthen our faith and expand good deeds for exponential rewards in order to attain the pleasure of our Creator. Ramadan is a time to reflect on our relationship with Allah SWT, to renew our commitment to His Deen, and to renew our intentions to move forward with the new found vigor and spiritual strength through the blessed acts of Salah, Sawm, and Sadaqa.
Ramadan is a time where we encourage the older Furqaan Academy students (in an age appropriate manner) to start trying to practice fasting, perform their daily Salat with a congregation at their local Masjid, and to join the night prayers (Taraweeh) as much as they are able. The younger students can practice giving Sadaqa, join the family in breaking fast at the end of the day, learn the Ramadan Du’as and increase listening, reciting, and memorizing the Qur’an.
